No! This is NOT a pregnancy announcement-even though people are always asking when I'm going to pop out another youngin'! The answer to that question is....never. ;) ha! Just kidding. But seriously, I just started sleeping more than three hours a night about 8 months ago so I've decided to give myself some time before I become a raving lunatic again. Besides, I don't think my saint of a husband can deal with me being the hormonal mess pregnancy requires of me.
LET'S TALK PREGNANCY AND ESSENTIAL OILS!
For real though, I don't think any of us women would voluntarily sign up for the changes pregnancy consists of. You always hear the classic "Oh, your going to go through so many changes", "You're probably having a girl since you're so dang sick.", and my personal favorite "Wow, are you having twins? Because you look WWAAAYY farther along than just 25 weeks." Okay-cool. I already had the thought I look like a beached whale this morning when tried buttoning my pants, but thanks for the reminder, Deborah.
Anyways, my point is...your body goes through some serious changes during pregnancy. I don't know about any other mothers but I welcome ANYTHING that can help my ribs feel a little more comfortable, my nausea subside, and stretch marks be as minimal as humanly possible during those glorious, yet extremely frustrating 10 months.
Don't you just LLOOVVEE those expecting mothers who are like..."Oh yeah, I haven't had one minute of morning sickness. I've felt so amazing the ENTIRE pregnancy. I can eat, drink, snort, smell, and lick anything without wishing their was a porcelain throne next to me 24/7." Well good for you little miss lucky, but I however smelled day old water and thought the fumes were coming from my little brothers shoe sweat.
My point...morning sickness is probably one of the worst thing known to women. The cure? WILD ORANGE! I repeat, WILD ORANGE! Some of my fellow doterrrorists may be thinking no, Digestzen actually would be a better choice. Nope. Absolutely not. Inhaling, ingesting and diffusing Wild Orange along with Peppermint is the ONLY thing that kept me sane the first 14 weeks.
The good ole battle scars. We all wear them with pride after our little nugget has come into the world. However, I know we all look at our pre pregnancy bikini pictures and automatically think "Damn. Look at that no stretch mark, tight tummy!", regardless of how proud we are of what our body has created.
The solution? Immortelle, Lavender and Fractionated Coconut oil. I lathered my stomach and sides with these oils 2-3 times a DAY my whole pregnancy. Not ONE stretch mark. NOT ONE! Hallelujah!
We all know our breasts increase in size by about 3 times during the whole breastfeeding situation. I did not apply oils to my breast area and now my breasts still look like a battlefield. So, this tells me that I DON'T just have extremely forgiving belly stretching genes. The oils actually do wondrous things for our skin-especially during pregnancy. Not to mention rubbing these incredible oils over the womb is helping our baby more than we can comprehend.
(I wish I had a bare belly picture during my pregnancy! I've never been a selfie-mirror taking kind of girl. So unfortunately you all will have to enjoy my post pregnancy picture as evidence.)
SCIATIC NERVE/MUSCLE & JOINT PAIN
When you can't walk while pregnant because you have a pinched sciatic nerve makes it a little tricky to shave your legs, or really do anything involving your legs. Solution? Deep Blue Rub and Frankincense. Apply wherever you have pain! I will warn you...the pain may not go away completely-depending on your body. But it will give you some relief! When you have a watermelon in your womb any relief is welcome. Can I get an Amen?
As if your two out of place ribs, bowling ball belly, and nausea isn't enough to keep you awake at night. Restless legs come in the add the straw that breaks the camels back! Aromatouch. That's the secret. I rub this blend all over my legs and feet and within minutes I'm able to fall asleep with no issues. All you pregnant mamas will thank me one day for letting you in on this secret!
ACNE & SKIN IRRITATION/RASHES
As our body is growing another human our skin becomes sensitive with all kinds of weird acne and irritations. It's not like our round belly and weight gain isn't enough to make us feel like a hopeless mess...we add a third eyes and an erupting volcano to our forehead and we feel our 19th emotional break down coming on. Like I have mentioned before, it really depends on your body and skin type for which oils will help YOU the most. However, Lavender, Frankincense, and Melaleuca are perfect oils for the skin and any kind of irritation that crops up.
I absolutely loved having my essential oils to help my body get through my pregnancy. I would say my pregnancy was actually quite enjoyable. Well, as enjoyable as pregnancy can be! I loved being able to feel my little boy kick and grow, and I loved my body for being able to give me the gift of motherhood. Even with all that said pregnancy is extremely hard, emotional and frustrating. Being able to use the essential oils for everything I experienced gave me the extra boost of confidence and strength to help me enjoy pregnancy that much more.
To all my pregnant mommas, you got this!
